This incident is from pre-1915 era. Bhai Sahib Randhir Singh jee, Bhai Surjan Singh jee and other Jatha Singhs went to Darbar Sahib for Darshan and Ishnaan. As they came out of Siri Akal Takhat Sahib, Bhai Surjan Singh jee went into Smadhi (spiritual trance) near the Nishan Sahibs, and Bhai Sahib too just sat there and his consciousness went into high spiritual realms. As they sat there, a police officer came and broke Bhai Surjan Singh jee’s Smadhi and told him to get up and leave. Bhai Surjan Singh brought Bhai Sahib out of trance and told him that police officer wanted them to leave.

Bhai Sahib got divine Bir Rass hearing this. He said, “who is this police officer to tell us to leave?”

At that time, some students of Khalsa College arrived. They knew Bhai Sahib because Bhai Sahib had taught there for sometime.

The police officer admitted his folly and said that he had been told by the pujaris (priests) of Siri Akal Takhat Sahib that two Chooray (scavengers) were sitting at Siri Akal Takhat Sahib. When the Khalsa College students heard that certain pujaris had called Bhai Sahib and Bhai Surjan Singh chooray, they were very upset and at once attacked the pujaris. The pujaris were beaten up and this prompted the Siri Akal Takhat jathedar Bhai Arur Singh to come and intervene. He apologized to Bhai Sahib and other Singhs and requested them to do Siri Asa kee Vaar kirtan at Siri Harmandir Sahib, the next morning.

Bhai Sahib and the whole Jatha for the first time did kirtan at Siri Harmandir Sahib. The sangat was extremely pleased hearing Bhai Sahib’s kirtan and countless money was offered by sangat. The Pujaris were extremely astonished when Bhai Sahib and other Singhs did not take even one paisa (cent) of money and just walked away without even looking at it.

Later on, Bhai Sahib and the Singhs went to darshan of Siri Nanakana Sahib and incidentally at that time, the Panth famous kirtani, Bhai Hira Singh was doing kirtan. He was known for doing great Katha during Kirtan but when he saw Bhai Sahib and other Singhs arriving in Sangat, he said, “Marjeevaray have arrived. Clear some space in front, so that they may sit in front of me.” Bhai Hira Singh went into extreme Bairag when doing kirtan and he did not do katha that day. He did pure Kirtan only. Bhai Sahib too went into extreme Bairaag listening to kirtan that day.

This way, having Darshan and Ishnaan of Gurdwara Sahibaan, arrived back at Narangwal.
