(The Brahmin pleading before Siri Guru jee)

One day when Guru Ji visited Kartarpur he camped outside the city. On that day the only son of a Brahmin died, some Brahmins said Guru Har Rai is said to have all spiritual powers, if he is the real Guru he will make your son alive if he does not then he is a hypocrite. The Brahmin carried his son and palced his body in front of Guru Ji during a Darbar. Placing their son in front of Guru Ji they began to weep bitterly. The Sikhs were moved to hear their cry and some Sikhs said the Guru should revive the child. When Guru Ji heard this he said “we cannot help others by only wishing, we have to sacrifice ourselves. The Sikh who considers that if I do not revive the child of the Brahmin will bring an indignity to the house of the Guru should sacrifice his own life for the sake of the child.” When Bhai Jeewan (younger son of Bhai Bhagatu) heard the words of the Guru he went outside did ardas and passed away, the son of the Brahmin was revived. Guru Ji praised the sacrifice of Bhai Jeewan and performed his Antam-sanskar.
